Hey! It was a win!
Let me just say last night’s game was a good thing.
It wasn’t a pretty thing… it wasn’t good for the blood pressure. But at this point wins are wins.
Granted when you score 10 runs in the first, there should not be ANY tension.
When you score 14 through 6 innings, the other team should be thinking about which utility infielder should coming in to pitch.
When you have 15 runs on the board going into the 8th, you shouldn’t be saying “Man we need to come back.”
When you have 15 runs on the board, Okajima should be back in his apartment taking a nap, not pitching in the 7th.
When you score 19 runs, the only way there should be a save situation would be the “pitch the last 3 innings” like Wes Littleton did in the 30-3 win last year.
But in the end, it doesn’t matter. Papi went nuts as did Fenway.
A win is a win…
2 up in the loss column for the Wild Card.
4 back in the loss column.
95 wins will in all probability clinch a playoff spot.
42 games left.
The Sox need to go 26-16.
If they win 26 games 19-17, I’ll be fine.
I’ll need some Tums, but I’ll be fine.
