Well THIS isn't going as planned!

When the Red Sox took a 3-0 lead yesterday, I began thinking about what my blog post was going to be.

Naturally I thought about Tim Wakefield, as this would be his 176th win as a Red Sox... moving him with 16 of tying Cy Young and Roger Clemens for most wins in Red Sox history.

And they were playing the Royals, so it should have been in the bag.
And of course Papi and Drew got some hits, so maybe the bats would be awake.

But noooooo.

The Red Sox have played 4 games, and they have yet to play in a game that was NOT a teeth grinder or a dodged bullet.

One of the Sox strengths was supposed to be the trio in the bullpen of Bard/Okajima and Papelbon... who currently have all three of the Red Sox losses this year.

GREAT!

Time to grind our teeth again.

DODGED A BULLET GAMES - 1

April 4 - 9-7 win against Yankees (On Opening Night, the Red Sox overcome a 5-1 Yankee lead with a game tying HR by Pedroia and a go ahead passed ball.)

TEETH GRINDER GAMES - 3

April 6 - 6-4 loss against the Yankees. (Scutaro's error leads to the winning run.)
April 7 - 3-1 loss against the Yankees. (Sox leave the winning run on in the 9th only to lose on Granderson's 10th inning homer)
April 9 - 4-3 loss in Kansas City. (Bard coughs up the lead, denying Wakefield a win.)

-2 for the year.

A hit here and a hit there and the Red Sox would be 4-0.
Instead they are 1-3... and facing the defending Cy Young Award winner today.

Oh this isn't how I saw the season opening at all!
