The NL Cy Young Race is already interesting
If you want to win the NL Cy Young Award and you haven't got off to a fast start, you had better get going.
Just this weekend shows how competitive it can be.
Ubaldo Jimenez is already 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA and threw the first no hitter in Rockies history yesterday.
Two time defending Cy Young champ Tim Lincecum let up a home run to Brian McCann in his second start and that is the only time he's been scored upon all year. He pitched 6 scoreless yesterday in the Giants romp over the Dodgers. He is also 3-0 and has an 0.90 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 20 innings.
Roy Halladay is also 3-0, has an ERA of 1.12, is averaging 8 innings a start and has a WHIP of 0.96. And oh yeah is leading the Phillies to one of their best starts ever.
Even my darkhorse pick for the Cy Young, Ricky Nolasco, threw a complete game to counter Roy Halladay's win on Friday. Wins against the Phillies are doubly important for the Marlins who want to make up ground on the 3 time defending Division Champ.
Adam Wainwright is up today... and has to pitch for a Cardinals team that ran out of pitchers yesterday.
It's your move, Adam.
