The Maytag Repairmen of 2009

Well there have been exciting games played in this post season, but the series themselves have been pretty decisive.

How bad is it getting?

I am asking "I wonder which players haven't gotten a chance to play in the 2009 postseason?"

I'm now paying attention to who hasn't gotten in yet, and as a former bench warmer, I am rooting for each active player of each team currently playing in the League Championship to get into at least one post season game.

Tonight, the Yankees brought in their last remaining player, Chad Gaudin, to throw the last inning of the blow out in Anaheim.

And with the Angels losing 10-1, I would ask Mike Scioscia "You couldn't bring in Bobby Wilson for one at bat? Or Robb Quinlan to take a cut? Were you expecting a big rally?"

So, because there is little else to wonder about the LCS (I really hope you weren't expecting a "Freeway Series") let's list which players haven't busted a box score this post season who still could.

BRAD AUSMUS - Dodgers backup Catcher.

A long time Astro, Brad appeared in the 1997, 1998, 2001, 2004 and 2005 post seasons in Houston including the '05 World Series.

PAUL BAKO - Phillies backup Catcher

A former Brave and personal catcher to Greg Maddux (who just HATED pitching to Javy Lopez), Bako appeared in the 2000 and 2001 playoffs with the Braves and later in 2003 with the ill fated Chicago Cubs.

ROBB QUINLAN - Angels pinch hitter

The perennial prospect played in the 2005 and 2007 playoffs with the Angels.

BOBBY WILSON - Angels reserve catcher.

He has 19 games of big league experience total over two season under his belt. And with Jeff Mathis and Mike Napoli already on the roster, playing time is scarce for him.

Plus as a 26 year old rookie, he probably isn't going to be a big league star.

He has no post season experience... and now I want him to play just once.

So if the results of the LCS are no longer suspenseful, at least we can hope everyone gets to play.

And then of course go out for pizza afterwards.
