Once they're done laughing at that, you say: "Just throwing that out there as an icebreaker!"
And you laugh together and slide onto the icy sidewalk, hugging, tears streaming down your cheeks and burning holes into the frozen matter all around you.
If they don't bite, that of course leads you right into: "OOoooo! Why the icy reception?" and "I feel like I'm really getting the cold shoulder, here!"
PS Are you familiar with comedian Roger HAILes??? Today would be a hilarious day to bump into him, and if you do -- YOU KNOW THE DRILL.
