We get into fights over the most ridiculous things. Here, she was furious because she felt I was trying to "upstage" her with my bright red sandals, whereas I felt that she was trying to outdo me with her loud, attention-grabby floral shirt. It was one of those things where neither of us were able to step outside of ourselves, even for a moment, to see the other's point of view. No one was willing to be the peacemaker. So we cancelled our mani/pedis and just sat there, seething. You have no idea how bad I wanted to kick her big black purse onto the ground but she was in the middle of having a coma so I laid off.
