Please have Berkman be a NICE Tony LaRussa comeback story

In the last few years, Lance Berkman's stats have been falling off. He was a part time player for the Yankees in the playoffs last year, pressed into starting duty after Mark Teixeira's injury.

Well now he is in St. Louis and is putting up All Star numbers again.

Among the leaders in batting, he knocked his 15th homer tonight and drove in his 45th run.

It's a terrific comeback.
Tony LaRussa has had a lot of players comeback for him.

Dave Stewart in Oakland became an Ace, as did Chris Carpenter in St. Louis. Jim Edmonds refound his stroke and countless pitching reclamation projects.

But there have been other kind of comebacks.

The Mark McGwire comebacks... the lots of players who played for him being connected to stuff kind of comebacks.

Remember how quickly the Rick Ankiel story turned from the feel good baseball story of the decade to "Oh dear..."?

I so hope this is a NICE comeback on a LaRussa squad. But my guard is up.

How mad were opponents of instant replay tonight?

They should be enraged!
Lance Berkman hit a home run! The umpires called it that way on the field... and another one confirmed it.

Umpires make calls and whether they are right or wrong and whether or not we have the technology to make calls correct and reward players for what they actually do and not for what they DON'T do... we should NEVER use that technology.

That's the HUMAN ELEMENT, right?

So I assume all of you who hate instant replay HATED the fact that the call was reversed, am I right?

You must have been saying "NO! Leave the call WRONG! Baseball is better when calls are wrong!"

(Seriously... someone please send me a logical reason to NOT have instant replay. I've been begging for an answer.)

Make a deal, Astros...

Seriously... I've been telling you for years to swing a deal for Roy Oswalt... how can his stock get any higher?

He just threw a freaking one hit complete game shutout.
Granted it was against the Pirates, but still. It counts.
Swing a deal.

If the offer for Cliff Lee from Minnesota is real, then he is Twin bound.

So Oswalt will be the best available pitcher on the trade market.

Maybe with the White Sox! They just lost Jake Peavy and they have a penchant for dealing away prospects.

Make that deal before Oswalt walks off the mound with a season ending injury a la Peavy.

But figure it out.

And maybe see if you can throw in Lance Berkman as well.

I mean when is his value going to get higher then when he smacks 2 homers out of the yard.

Pull that trigger Astros.
You get nothing by doing nothing.
